Description

This 1 pound bag of gold bearing paydirt comes from the Bradshaw Mountain Range in Arizona, which has a rich mining history. Its peaks reach up to 8,000 feet with placer gold deposits found in almost every creek along the way. The mountains are named after brothers Isaac and William Bradshaw. In 1863, William was the first to lead a group of men into the Bradshaws in search of silver and gold. In 1864, the Walker Party entered the Bradshaws and followed Lynx Creek deep into the higher elevations near Lynx Lake. Gold and silver were found there with successful prospectors recovering more than an ounce per day. News spread about finding the yellow metal, and a gold rush began in the Bradshaws! Modern day gold districts within the Bradshaw range are among the most productive placers in Arizona. But if you can’t get there yourself, by panning this bag of practice gravel, you are taking a step back into history and finding the shiny stuff that gives us all gold fever!

How to pan for gold (pan NOT included with purchase of paydirt):

1. Fill pan about half full of material.

2. Put the pan under the water’s surface.

3. Continue to hold the pan level under the water with your hands on opposite sides, and tilt the pan forward, away from your body, and down slightly. Rotate and shake it side to side to let larger gravels and sand dribble out the front.

4. Repeat step 3 several times until most of the material is removed, leaving a small amount of material at the bottom of your pan.

5. Rotate the pan in a circular motion. Notice how the water separates lighter material from heavier.

6. Stop rotating and find that flash in the pan that’s REAL GOLD! Use tweezers to retrieve the tiny bits of gold and place in vial for safe-keeping.

7. Holler EUREKA!
